Located on the Gansevoort rooftop in Meatpacking, Saishin’s intimate rooftop terrace is the most romantic place you can eat hamachi with your lover. There’s one sushi counter inside, enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass windows so you can still peep at the view. Outside, there are five booths with enough room for big groups, but most are occupied by couples sitting on the same side, watching over the city as the breeze rolls in from the Hudson.
Everything on the raw-fish-only menu is tiny, but it’s fantastic sushi and the rooftop upcharge is worth it. Just know that after spending $115 per person ordering a la carte, we still needed a snack afterwards, so you might as well go with the $135 or $175 omakases, which they also serve outside. After your meal, you can mosey over to the livelier Gansevoort rooftop bar if you’re ready for more action.
